Breckenbrough School

Tribe Solutions is proud to announce the success of a Phase 4 Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS4) application, managed on behalf of Breckenbrough School.

“Tribe supported Breckenbrough School in securing over £600,000 SLAIX grant to help decarbonise our site. The support from Tribe and the other project partners was critical to our PSDS success. We look forward to continued collaboration throughout project implementation.”

Sue Jones

In our role as energy and decarbonisation specialists, Tribe led the development and submission of the funding application, collaborating with JH Partners - MEP Design & Digital Engineering (M&E Design Lead) and SRC Ltd (Project Management and Compliance). With representatives from Breckenbrough School ensuring the project not only aligned with their net zero commitment but also respected the school’s Quaker ethical principles and prioritised the needs and wellbeing of their students.

Tribe will manage Salix compliance throughout delivery of the decarbonisation-focussed project which includes:

  • Replacement of aged oil-fired boilers with energy-efficient Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) system

  • Loft and plantroom insulation

  • Upgrades to the Building Management System (BMS) for improved energy management

Breckenbrough School, a specialist provider for Autistic boys aged 9–19, is housed in a historic Victorian building. This project will significantly reduce its carbon footprint and provide a healthier, low-carbon learning environment. Special congratulations go to Sue Jones and the entire school team, whose dedication and commitment throughout this process have been, and continue to be, second to none.

Sue Jones, Bursar and Project Lead at Breckenbrough School commented “There was a huge amount of effort from everyone in the project team throughout the application process. The support from Tribe and the other project partners was critical to our PSDS success and we look forward to continued collaboration throughout project implementation.” With contract award expected Summer 2025 and project completion targeted for January 2026, this challenging initiative will set a strong precedent for low-carbon transformation in specialist education settings.
